Auburn  New South Wales

Fifteen kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD is Auburn, a densely-populated, multicultural suburb of basically working-class origins.

The population mix is particularly rich with Arabic, Chinese, Turkish and Vietnamese-speaking residents. Accordingly, Auburn's restaurants offer a wide range of cuisines.

Industries range from abattoirs to railway workshops, breweries to petroleum refineries and brickworks.

Nearby is the Olympic complex at Homebush Bay and Rookwood, one of Australia's largest metropolitan cemeteries. Not far away, Rosehill Racecourse (the home of the Sydney Turf Club) hosts the Golden Slipper, the world's richest race for two-year-old thoroughbreds and the principal race on the STC calendar.
